HP Elite x3 Could Get New Lap Dock with Larger Full HD Screen

A new report suggests the HP Elite x3 will receive a 14” or 15” Lap Dock that will get full USB ports, a larger back-lit keyboard, and a larger screen. HP has recently announced new accessories for the handset, and the current Lap Dock has helped the smartphone’s business-appeal.

HP's presence at the Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC 2017) involved teasing a prototype smartphone and launching new accessories. This was a new version of the spiffing Mobile handset. According to a report from NotebookItalia, the company is also working on refreshed accessories for the device.

Specifically, the Elite x3 is going to get a new Lap Dock. As the name hints, the peripheral would give the smartphone some full-PC credentials.

If you are unfamiliar with the Lap Dock idea, it is essentially a laptop shell with a working screen. It uses 's Continuum technology and the HP Elite x3 smartphone to connect. The handset then becomes a fully working laptop, complete with keyboard.

There are no hardware innards (CPU, GPU, RAM, etc.) on board. However, the Lap Dock does sport a back-lit keyboard, USB-C ports, and a trackpad.

There is already a Lap Dock available for the product, sporting a 12.5-inch Full HD screen. The new model will apparently boost this screen size to 13” or 14”. It will also get an improved trackpad, full-sized UB ports, and a larger keyboard.

As you probably know, the Elite x3 is a business-grade smartphone focused on enterprise features and specs. It is a powerful device that HP has pushed towards organizations with peripherals such as a rugged case, a Desk Dock, and a passive stylus.

HP Elite x3

Now that Microsoft is out of the smartphone hardware business, HP is flying the flag. The company's Elite x3 is the best handset on the platform, and among the best on the market. Indeed, it is really the only full flagship-quality device on Windows 10 Mobile.

At MWC 2017, HP announced new accessories that boost the device's potential for businesses. The Mobile Retail Solution costs $300 and is a barcode scanner for retail storerooms, shipping warehouses and the like. The solution is integrated neatly and looks like a special case for the HP Elite x3.

Joining the Mobile Retail Solution at MWC was he Mobile Scanning Solution, which is just the jacket-like device. Sold separately for $329, the Mobile Scanning Solution practically turns your Elite x3 into a fast and accurate barcode scanning handheld device.
