Microsoft Reportedly Rolling out Outlook Mail’s Focused Inbox Feature to More Users

The feature seems to be available to people who are running the production/public builds of Windows 10, even if they are not part of the Windows Insider Program.

Microsoft has been testing the Focused Inbox feature with some Windows Insiders in the past couple of months. Now it seems like the company is rolling out the feature to more Windows 10 users picked randomly, ahead of a public rollout, expected later this February.

Focused Inbox is a major feature in Outlook which helps users focus on the important stuff while keeping the less important emails in a section easily accessible.

For example, with Focused Inbox users can choose to hide all the newsletters in the Others section and designate which important things will show up in the feature. The feature is automatically enabled, however, users can easily disable it since it’s optional.

Release scheduled for February 2017

At the moment, it seems like Microsoft is A/B testing the Focused Inbox feature with some Windows 10 users – but the company is expected to bring it to all users. It is still unclear when the feature will be sent out to the masses, however, Microsoft said back in January 2017 that the Windows 10 Mail UWP app would get the feature this February.

Focused Inbox may not be a feature for the Windows 10 Mail app. However, it landed on the Outlook for iOS and Android almost three years ago, when Microsoft acquired the mobile email startup Acompli back in 2014.

Acompli is a first-class email experience -connecting well with Outlook and Google’s mail services- which helped the Redmond giant find a solution for emails on iOS and Android.
