The newest SDK preview build may not have a corresponding Windows 10 build, however, Microsoft recently released the Windows 10 Creators Update build 15025 for PC and Mobile, as well as preview build 15023 for Xbox One.
The Software Development Kit is to be used in conjunction with Windows 10 Insider Preview (Build 15021 or greater) and brings several API updates and additions. As Microsoft points out, it should only be installed on test machines since it’s a pre-release.
What’s new in Windows 10 SDK Preview Build 15021
As mentioned before, the new SDK preview build brings several changes to the Windows namespace. The list of updates and additions to API surface area is far too big to list here, but you can check it all out at the Windows blog post.
In addition, the new SDK preview build includes new features for the Debugging Tools for Windows. Developers can now extend and script WinDbg with JavaScript, while Microsoft has announced four command changes.
According to Microsoft’s update, the functionality of the kernel mode !handle extension has been moved to the debugger data model and is now accessible, scriptable, and LINQ queryable via “Io.Handles” off any process object (e.g.: @$curprocess). The SDK preview build 15021 requires Visual Studio 2017 Preview, which you can download here, and it has no known issues.
