Microsoft´s PowerShell for Linux Now Supports Apt-Get and Yum Installations

The new PowerShell Core 6.0 alpha.15 release has been added to Microsoft´s package repository and can now be installed automatically with different Linux package managers.

open-sourced Core in summer 2016 to make it available on a broader range of systems.

The company published the PowerShell source-code to as a first alpha-version, where interested users could download it for implementations with RedHat, Ubuntu, Cent OS and macOS.

To make things easier, Microsoft has now enabled installation of PowerShell Core through popular existing package management tools such as apt-get and yum.

The install-tools can now grab the latest PowerShell Core files directly from Microsoft packages server packages.microsoft.com.

Microsoft has also shared three install-scripts for apt-get and yum for that can be used with Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04 and CentOS.

The code has also been updated, bringing the current version to PowerShell Core 6.0 alpha.15.
