Windows 10 SDK Preview build 15003 has been released to be used in conjunction with Windows 10 Insider Preview. The company clarifies that Preview SDK is a pre-release, therefore it cannot be used in a product environment and Microsoft specifically asks Insiders to only “install the SDK on your test machine”.
This new SDK Preview build features quite a few API updates, (almost 1700 lines worth) Insiders should be aware of. To check them out, head over to the Windows blog post where Microsoft announced the release.
Apart from Fast ring build 15007, Insiders will need Visual Studio 2017 in order to use the new SDK Preview build. Microsoft comments on the matter in its release blog post.
“Known Issues Windows SDK:
- There is no Emulator with this release
- I cannot specify the new SDK version 15003 when creating a new project
This version of the SDK only works with Visual Studio 2017. You can download the Visual Studio 2017 RC. If you install the latest version Visual Studio 2017, you will be able to specify the build 15003.”

Debugging Tools updated
Debugging Tools for Windows has also been updated with several new features, including JavaScript scripting and extensibility. According to Microsoft’s blog post concerning these changes, you “can now extend and script WinDbg with JavaScript!”
Instead of summing up all changes in a blog-post the company is suggesting that users check out MSDN and Channel 9 where they can find “plenty of documentation”. But they also promit to publish “some follow-up blog posts over the next few months covering any FAQs.”
Microsoft also notes that in case someone is working on an application that they want to submit to the store, they should not install the preview.
