Indeed, LucidSound is a new name on the market. The company has released just three headsets since the first on March 1, 2016. Gamers may be familiar with the newest headset, the LS40 Wireless Surround Universal Gaming Headset.

Of course, all the company's headsets have been universal. This means they could always be used with the Xbox One. Because of the licensing agreement, LucidSound can now tailor specific features into the products that are specific for the Xbox One.

This should produce a better experience for games, although the company has not said what those features will be. LucidSound is expected to announce new headsets in the coming months. This agreement also means that the company is getting behind the Xbox One exclusively. LucidSound CEO Chris Von Huben says it is because of the premium quality Microsoft's brand offers.

“The Xbox brand is synonymous with premium gaming and delivering experiences unmatched in interactive entertainment. We can now specifically develop and engineer audio products for the Xbox family of devices, and couldn't be prouder to be partnering with Microsoft to deliver the next generation of audio to eager fans,” said Chris Von Huben, CEO of LucidSound.

“The LucidSound range of products have captured the imagination of gamers, distinguishing themselves from competitors through modern aesthetics, innovative controls and unrivalled audio performance. We're excited to take our expertise to the Xbox audience and believe that today's announcement will be a major source of growth for our company in the years ahead.”

As part of the license, the company will work directly with Microsoft to implement the specific features coming to headsets.

Xbox One Peripherals

Of course, Microsoft develops its own accessories for the console. Just this week, the company dropped a new game pad controller for the Xbox One. The Red Edition pad comes with custom mapping and a 3.5mm stereo jack that will connect to headsets, including LucidSound's existing products. Microsoft also allows gamers to customize their own controller through Xbox Design Labs.
