-

has published a new deployment guide to help IT pros use ProPlus in various scenarios. The team behind the guide says the company is continuing to provide tools to professionals who want to deploy ProPlus in an organization.

As new features are added to the Office 365 suite, Microsoft will update the guide to reflect changes. In a blog post today, the company said the guide can be downloaded through onboarding resources at fasttrack.microsoft.com. The guide was created by a team of deployment experts from the Office 365 team.

Included in the guide are features such as actionable guidance and real-world scenarios. For example, the guide includes recommendations for discovering applications and preferred deployment scenarios and practices.

Other features include best approaches for channel management and reporting capabilities for licensing and usage. In the blog post, Microsoft describes each stage of the guide:

“Assess—Deploying requires planning—just like any other large-scale Office client deployment. Learn about key infrastructure components and app compatibility discovery processes, as well as tools to help you understand the scope and remediation needs of Office 365 ProPlus.

Plan—Planning is a key component of your migration to Office 365 ProPlus. Consider several items when creating your deployment plan to understand constraints and meet the goals of the project.

Deploy—Learn more about the three deployment options—Enterprise Managed, Locally Managed and Cloud Managed—available for delivering Office 365 ProPlus to your users' devices.

Manage—We're continuously improving Office 365 ProPlus. We'll walk you through how to handle managed and unmanaged deployment scenarios, patching and channel updates and ongoing management and maintenance.”

Office 365 ProPlus

Office 365 ProPlus is similar to other versions of Microsoft's cloud-based productivity suite. It includes important Office apps like Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Word, and PowerPoint. However, there are differences in the way it is licensed and deployed. More specifically, it deploys faster because of a Click-and-Run feature.

There are also update differences as updates are automatic through Click-and-Run installation or can be assigned to a specific location on a network.
