The latest update brings the console's operating system to version 10.0.14393.2152. It looks like Microsoft has found a way to increase download speeds with the latest build.
As stated in the official changelog, downloads should be much faster after the update, with up to 80 percent increase.
Microsoft details the following download-related improvements:
- Customers with high-speed connections (greater than 100Mbps) should experience up to 80% faster download speeds.
- Customers with connections less than 100Mbps should experience more consistent performance that is up to 40% faster than before.
- Additional optimizations have also made background downloads more resilient to intermittent connectivity issues.
The optimizations should solve a major problem that's been plaguing Xbox One users for a long time, as some games can be quite large. Still, there are some important things to consider.
Download speeds may vary, depending on the network workload both at home and at the ISP. Also, running games on the console affects download speeds. The system prioritizes gameplay over background downloads and thus allocates resources accordingly.
Other improvements
The update also brings some other minor improvements and fixes. There is a firmware update for the wireless controller which should improve its performance.
Also included is the fix regarding background music for added reliability and consistent experiences across streaming music apps, as well as general stability and performance improvements.
