We reported earlier in the week that has announced its major events for 2017. Among them was the Worldwide Partner Conference, the company's event to engage with partners. In a new announcement, the company has rebranded the conference as Microsoft Inspire.

Gavriella Schuster Corporate VP, Worldwide Partner Group explained the decision in a blog post. Microsoft believes the new name reflects how it works with its partners to inspire each other. With its community of partners, the company is innovating and creating new ideas, Schuster says.

“The name Microsoft Inspire better represents what this event provides,” Schuster added. “It is a destination event that fosters partner to partner connections, drives engagement with Microsoft, and surfaces new ideas to help bring our partners' goals and visions to life and accelerate business while we work as one to deliver the very best solutions to our customers.”

While the name has changed, Microsoft Inspire will still happen from July 9-13 in Washington D.C. The company has already set up the official website for partners to register for the event. .

Microsoft Inspire for Partners

In her blog post, Schuster spoke about how Microsoft is working to strengthen ties with partners. Speaking specifically about the Cloud Solution Provider program, growth has been rapid. Indeed, Microsoft now has over 20,000 partners whereas a year ago the figure was 3,500.

Cloud competencies have also been popular for partners. Microsoft has enjoyed an 86% increase in partners with gold or silver cloud competency.

“We know there is more work to do to help each and every one of our partners position themselves for future success. It's why we remain relentless in our commitment to our partner community: There is no way we could realize our mission without them.”

Microsoft Inspire will, like the Partner Conference, will feature keynotes from executives. Indeed, CEO Satya Nadella is likely to speak at the event. Aside from this, Microsoft will make its employees available to global partners. Those in attendance can use the company's resources to help grow their business. Microsoft will also seek to strengthen ties with partners.
