Microsoft Releases Arrow Launcher 2.7 with Custom Grid Sizes and More

Arrow Launcher 2.7 brings a swipe to search feature, customization to the 'recent' page, performance improvements, bug fixes, and more.

has been continually updating its app with new features, and today is no different. Version 2.7 has now come out of beta, and it includes better performance, custom grid sizes, and bug fixes.

Users will also benefit from a swipe down to search feature, providing a quick way to search on both Bing and locally. Moreover, changes to the recent page mean you can customize the type of content that displays there for increased privacy.

Arrow Launcher 2.7 Changelog

As always, we've included the full changelog for your consideration, which goes into some extra detail:

  • “Performance. Arrow is 10% more memory efficient than the previous version.
  • Swipe down to search. We've made search easier to find.
  • Customize the grid layout of apps page. 4×5, 4×6, and more options at your fingertips.
  • “Recent” page: customize the types of content you want to display.
  • Bug fixes: wallpaper, widgets, and more.”

The extra 10% efficiency is particularly impressive here. We've been expressing surprise for a while over Microsoft's ability to continue to improve in this area. Arrow Launcher is already one of the fastest launchers around, and this will help a lot on lower end devices.

Of course, the ability to customize grid layout is the biggest feature here, and one we've been waiting on for a while. It sits under the new ‘Icon layout' menu introduced in the last build.

The number of options you have here really depends on what size your icons are scaled to. On the largest setting, you'll only get access to 4×5, but with a small icon size you can choose between the following:

  • Auto
  • 4 x 5
  • 4 x 6
  • 5 x 6
  • 5 x 7

It's a great way to squeeze some extra icons onto your home screen, but it also means you can change the spacing if you just want smaller icons and not the extra rows that come with them.

It took me a while to figure out how to customize the ‘recent' page, but it can be found under the ‘Display content' subheading in settings. You can toggle photos, video, installed apps, clipboard, calls, documents, and messages.

This is particularly useful if you use last pass or other managers, as it will stop your password from being displayed on-screen. It also means there's less chance for embarrassing photos or messages to pop-up, so it's a win-win.

You can get download the latest version of Arrow Launcher from the Google Play Store.
