Lenovo May Be Working on the Miix 520, a Surface-like 2-in-1 Tablet

Lenovo’s Miix 510 may have had a strange name, but its unveil at IFA 2016 was met with some interest. However, leaks suggest that this isn’t the end for Miix, with several images and details floating around.

The new tablet will be a step up from the 510, both in design and specifications. It features premium looking body, with a magnesium aluminum exterior, sharp angles, and a curved corner screen. This is all propped up by a Surface Pro-like back hinge.

According to WinFuture, the Windows 10 device will feature up to 16 GB of RAM, up to 1 TB of storage space, and Micro SD slot. It’s also expected to have a fingerprint scanner, a 1080p display, and battery life of ten hours.

Apparently, there are four processor options: the 2.0 GHz Intel Core i3-7006U, 2.4 GHz Intel Core i3-7100U, 2.5GHz Intel Core i5-7200U and a 2.7GHz Intel Core i5-7500U. This combines with the RAM choice, which is between 4,8,6 or 16 GB.

Interestingly, the Miix 520 has a 5MP front camera and a two at the back – one 8MP, one 2 MP. The reason for this becomes obvious in the documentation, with several mentions of Augmented Reality. It’s difficult to say what exactly Lenovo is planning there, but it’s an intriguing reference.

The Miix 520 also comes with all of the peripherals slots you’d expect. It has a USB 3.0 port, two USB-C ports, Bluetooth 4.2 functionality and an LTE modem. It also supports Wacom styluses, with up to 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity.

WinFuture assures readers that the information comes from a reliable source, but naturally this could change before the release. Speaking of, there’s no word on when this will hit the market, or what the price tag will be. If Lenovo plays its cards right we could be looking at a serious Surface competitor.
