Microsoft Updates Power BI for Android with Favorites Management and Intune Mobile Application Management Preview

Power BI for Android now sits at version 2.2.1611249, and comes with quick workspace access, favorites management and more.

Microsoft has rolled out an update to Power BI for Android, with some small but useful improvements. Though there are no huge changes in this build, they create a more intuitive user experience.

One such tweak is the ability to manage favorite dashboards. You can now view and edit the list from your mobile, which should help you get quick access to what matters most. You’ll also be able to access ‘My workspace’ straight from the flyout menu if you’re not using groups.

There’s also another change coming to Android – integration of the Intune mobile application management service.

MAM lets admins restrict certain functions on employee devices, such as the ability to cut and paste corporate data within the app.

This feature is already available on desktop, but it’s good to see Microsoft widening the compatibility.

That said, here are the changes in Microsoft’s own words:

  • Favorites management: Manage your favorite dashboards list from the mobile device.
  • My workspace quick access: If you’re not using groups, you can now access your My Workspace directly from the global navigation button.
  • Intune Mobile Application Management preview: Secure the app using Intune mobile application management service with any mobile device management service or without it.

It’s nice to see the great Android app get some love. No doubt Microsoft has further improvements in mind that will bring it even closer the full desktop experience.

You can download the latest version of Power BI from the Google Play Store.
