The Dell Stack is a business-class smartphone that we have discussed recently. The handset has now been shown again in another render courtesy of Evan Blass. Like previous leaks, it shows a handset that promises a lot, but also asks a lot of questions. Chief among those questions is whether this device will ever be launched.
We think not, but first let’s examine this latest render. Firstly, it clearly shows the Dell Stack with its dock. This platform is a charger, but also supports Microsoft’s Continuum. This means the smartphone will be able to be used as a PC for any display.
Just a quick glance of the render shows a very slick design for both the handset and the dock. This is expected from Dell, of course, but also lends itself to the apparent business aspirations of the device. However, there is also something off about the render.

For example, the actual handset looks overly generic. Yes, it is thin and slick, but there are minor quirks, such as the screen sitting above the body on the bottom left corner. Indeed, the dock looks a more complete render.
So, here’s our assessment. This render is more likely showing off Dell’s dock, with a generic smartphone in place. In other words, we would not be surprised to see the dock launched, but this handset is not a real product.
Dell Stack
That does not mean Dell is not preparing a high-end smartphone with an Intel chipset. Last week we discussed a leaked image showing a smartphone with the potential of a PC. We speculated this could be Microsoft’s mythical Surface Phone, but it actually turned out to be a Dell handset.
The Dell Stack has huge potential as a smartphone. However, until Microsoft solves several questions surrounding the Windows 10 Mobile platform, devices will struggle to gain market traction. That includes the Dell Stack, no matter how good it may be if it ever launches.
