  • SharePoint hybrid auditing unified across site collections on-premises and in .
  • Hybrid taxonomy unified across on-premises and Office 365.
  • OneDrive API for SharePoint on-premises.

Key New SharePoint Server 2016 Features

Administrative actions logging – Admins can now conduct logging around important administrative actions. Microsoft says this helps prevent failures when troubleshooting changes to on-premises environments. This feature will help multi-admin organizations, the company adds. Administrative actions logging works though the SharePoint Server 2016 Central Administration website or through the SharePoint Server 2016 Management Shell.

MinRole enhancements – MiniRole is a farm topology in SharePoint Server 2016. With the new improvements, customers can deploy performance. The feature provides a number of predefined server roles and makes sure services run on the correct farm servers. Discussing its enhancements, Microsoft says:

“We've enhanced MinRole with two new server roles that are optimized for small and medium-sized farms: Front-end with Distributed Cache and Application with Search. Now, you can deploy a MinRole farm with just two servers or a high availability (HA) MinRole farm with just four servers.”

OneDrive for Business modern experience –  now features a more modern UI thanks to “intuitive” and “beautiful” designs. Navigating OneDrive for Business is now easier, while organizing files is also simpler.
