Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications and media company, has announced a new partnership with Microsoft. The two companies will collaborate to bring managed voice services to Office 365 enterprise customers. Under the service, users will have a cloud solution with voice-calling capabilities.
The announcement was made at the Telstra Vantage 2016 conference in Melbourne on Wednesday afternoon. Telstra says the Office 365 service will act as the delivery system for the service through Skype for Business. Customers can start using the capabilities from today (Wed. 21).
“Our partnership with Telstra will build on our objective to bring workplace communication into the modern era, by putting meetings and voice at the heart of Office 365,” Giovanni Mezgec, general manager of Office 365 Partners at Microsoft said at the conference.
“The option to integrate voice services will bring enhanced value to the millions of users enjoying Office 365 cloud services in Australia.”
Bolstering Acquisitions
Gianpaolo Carraro, director of Global Products and Applications for Telstra also spoke of the partnership. He said the collaboration would bolster the company’s acquisitions of Readify. Those two purchases cleared earlier in the year as the telecommunications giant sought to bolster is cloud abilities.
