Dell Unveils New Inspiron 17, 15 and XPS 13 Laptops, All Pre-Loaded with Windows 10 Anniversary

Dell has unveiled three laptops, inlcuding the XPS 13, which sports a QHD+ screen, up to 22 hours of battery life and weighs 2.7lbs.

On Wednesday Dell announced new laptops for their XPS and Inspiron lines, complete with Full HD screens and the latest version of Windows 10. That means consumers will get a touch-friendly, Cortana enabled device from the get go.

The new devices include an XPS 13, as well as two Inspiron models, 15 and 17 5000. Both have an optional infrared camera which allows you to log into Windows with a glance.

Dell XPS 13 Specs

Of course, none of that it notable if the hardware is no good, but thankfully Dell has that covered too. The near-borderless screen of the XPS 13 goes up to UltraSharp QHD+, and the battery life is impressive at up to 22 hours.

Here are the full details:

  • “Powered by Windows 10
  • New beautiful, Rose Gold color available in two configurations:
    • Intel 7th Generation Core i5; 8GB memory; 256GB SSD; 13.3-inch FHD
    • Intel 7th Generation Core i7; 8GB memory; 256GB SSD; 13.3-inch QHD+ with Touch
  • New larger 60WHr battery delivering longer battery life, up to 22 hours on FHD and up to 13 hours on QHD+
  • New Killer 1535 Wireless-AC technology for strong and reliable WiFi connection
  • Stunning 13.3-inch screen in an 11-inch frame
  • Weight starting at 2.7lbs and measuring a super slim 9-15mm
  • Constructed with machined aluminum, carbon fiber and Corning Gorilla Glass for incredible durability and stunning design”

Naturally, those specs come at a price, and the laptop will cost $799 on its October 4th release. Though pricey, that’s still less than its predecessors.

Inspiron 15 and 17 5000

The Inspiron line is much more affordable, aimed at the student and family market. Both models will start at $549.99 on release, and vary slightly in specs.

The Inspiron 15″ has a FHD touchscreen, while the 17″ model has more power but no touch capabilities. Both laptops sport the following features:

  • “Powered by Windows 10
  • New thinner design for portability and an array of fun colors including Sparkling White, Midnight Blue, Fog Night, Matte Gray, Black, Bali Blue, Tango Red or Cosmic Purple
  • Optional infrared camera with Windows Hello lets you log in with just a look (15-inch FHD touch configuration only)
  • Vibrant, optional FHD display for beautiful graphics with optional touch on 15-inch version
  • TrueColor makes images and video up to twice as vibrant and more realistic
  • DVD drive with optional Blu-ray writer for extra storage and watching videos”

The laptops will act as perfect showcases for Windows 10 Anniversary, which is likely why Microsoft is touting them. The XPS and Inspiron 15 5000 will be perfect for Microsoft’s new Windows Ink.
