Microsoft Names Sriram Rajamani Managing Director of Indian Research Lab

Sriram Rajamani will replace Chandu Thekkath as the head of Microsoft Indian research lab in Bangalore. He will lead the company’s push to innovate and collaborate in the local and global market.

today named a new managing director of its India lab. The position goes to Sriram Rajamani, replacing previous managing director Chandu Thekkath. The new position has been effective since August 1, 2016, the company said in an announcement.

Labs Corporate Vice-President, welcomed Rajamani to the position . She said Sriram Rajamani will bring his expertise as a computer scientist to the managing director role. Wing spoke of his “proven research and managerial track record” over 17 years with Microsoft.

In the announcement, Wing also stressed the importance of the Indian market to Microsoft:

“India has one of the fastest growing and most dynamic IT industries, and it's also a unique place in which to do cutting-edge research.  We're excited that someone with Sriram's experience and leadership capabilities can help advance state of the art in computer science, and develop new technologies for emerging markets.”

Microsoft's India lab is located in Bangalore and is a place for researchers to collaborate with the scientific community. Rajamani is tasked with leading the company's plan to create innovations in the lab.

Experience

Sriram Rajamani has held a noted career with Microsoft for nearly two decades. Known as a top-class researcher, he has built a sizeable reputation in computer science. His other areas of expertise include hardware and software verification, cloud security, and programming language design.

He has been with the India lab since 2006, where he has already served as the assistant managing director. Rajamani was the co-recipient of the CAV (Computer Aided Verification) award during his career. He won the 2011 prize for his work in implementing verification of programs in industrial practices.
