People who pre-ordered the 2TB version of its  console started receiving emails from informing them that shipments have begun. The 2TB version of the console should begin arriving on Tuesday, August 2 depending on the destination and shipping.

Will Tuttle, Xbox Wire Editor in Chief has shared some of the new Xbox One S features via Xbox Wire:

  • S offers a great value as one of the top 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray players on the market – which means you can watch your favorite movies in stunning 4K. The 2TB launch edition Xbox One S will be available for $399 USD with 1TB and 500GB Xbox One S options starting at $299 USD over the coming weeks.
  • You can play over 100 console exclusives, and with High Dynamic Range (HDR) support for video and gaming, Xbox One titles like Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Scalebound and NBA 2K17 will look even better thanks to a higher contrast ratio between lights and darks, bringing out the true visual depth of your favorite games. And don't forget about the growing library of backward compatible Xbox 360 games.
  • You can also stream movies or TV shows in 4K Ultra HD with content from partners like Netflix available now. More content from Amazon Video and others is on the way!
  • Xbox One S is 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One, featuring a built-in power supply. No more brick!”

Microsoft has also started taking pre-orders for the 500GB version of the Xbox One S costing $299, along with the 1TB edition costing $349. These consoles will officially go on sale on 3 weeks after this launch.

As promised by Redmond, the Xbox One S would debut in robot white color. To make it to stores early August it was available for pre-order beginning mid-June with the following offerings:

  • 500GB Xbox One S at $299
  • 1TB Xbox One S at $349
  • 2TB Xbox One S at $399 in selected markets

Some of the new features of the new Xbox One S controller is a textured grip for more comfort and Bluetooth radio for wireless connection to devices like PCs, tablets, and phones. The new controller is also streamlined.

Just yesterday Microsoft rolled out the summer update with much-requested features and Cortana support. The Xbox One S will support the new features going forward, including the lower specs devices slated for later this month.

Gamers will enjoy an improved experience, device and stores convergence, social media enhancements and Cortana. Language is no longer tied to location and the listening to background music is now a reality.

A timely of this Xbox version gives hope that the rest will not be delayed later in the month. This predictability will give Gamers much confidence in pre-release predictions and keeps Microsoft a league above companies that routinely delay releases, the norm in the industry.
