-

has raised the curtain on the Summer Spotlight event for the console. The event is a promotional period where the company will roll out 25 digital games between now and September 5. The company will make five new games available each week between now and the closing date.

This week has already seen the company launch We Happy Few and Hyper Light Drifter.

We Happy Few is an action adventure title set in a retro-futuristic 1960s England. Users must hide in and survive in the game environment, mixing stealth and combat to achieve that goal. Hyper Light Drifter is an adventure RPG that pays homage to the 16-bit retro RPGs. Other titles coming to Summer Spotlight soon include LiveLock, Risk Urban Assault, and Overcooked.

On his website, Microsoft's Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb summed up the Summer Spotlight event:

Over the next six weeks, the Xbox Store will be releasing over 25 new digital games to Xbox One. We have some of the most anticipated titles of the summer, including We Happy Few and INSIDE. This is also a great time to explore exciting new indie titles such as The Solus Project and Kingdom New Lands. Summer Spotlight has a wide variety of titles and different genres for fans to explore. From July 26 – September 5 we will be bringing you additional games every week, and I'll be updating this post, so check back every Tuesday to discover new games to play!”

Microsoft will unveil the full list of games soon.

Xbox One S

Summer Spotlight will overlap the release of the Xbox One S, Microsoft newest console. The device is 40% smaller than the OG Xbox One and features a built in power pack. Other improvements include 4K compatibility, Blu-ray support, Bluetooth support, and an improved wireless controller.
