Microsoft Issues another Xbox One Preview Update (Build rs1_xbox_rel_1608)

A second Xbox One Preview in as many days solves plenty of known issues and furthers Microsoft’s preparations for the launch of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

-

is sending out updates for the Xbox One Preview at a rapid rate. The company is preparing Anniversary Update and the launch of the Xbox One S on August 2. New updates in preview are finalizing features and solving issues before the release.

Users accessing previews can now get rs1_xbox_rel_1608.160722-1911, which follows just a day after build 14393.1010.

The update adds some new features, which is actually rare for a preview so close to a full build upgrade. Microsoft has been ramping up the previews recently, with another rolled out a week ago. The Xbox One Preview released on Sunday comes with the following improvements:

“Resolved and issue with Game DVR where game clips would fail to upload to Xbox Live.

Resolved an issue where pending UWA updates automatically started when launching the app.

Resolved and issue with MSN Weather App.

Resolved an issue where UWAs were taking 5+ seconds to show splash screen on first launch with no indication of activity.

    Purchased gamertag changes

Resolved an issue where purchased gamertag changes were hanging in purchase flow.”

Issue Fixes

  • “My Games & Apps – Resolved an issue which could cause certain universal apps (Movies & TV) and updates to get stuck in the queue. Additionally, the user's selected background color should now be applied to game and app tiles appearing in Updates and Ready to install.
  • Cortana – Resolved an issue which caused certain phrases like “Hey Cortana play music”, “Hey Cortana launch videos” to return an error rather than launch Groove Music or Movies & TV. • The build also contains a fix to address Cortana failing to launch certain games and apps.
  • Blu-Ray Player – You should no longer encounter “Installation Stopped” errors when attempting to download or update the Blu-Ray Player app.”

The latest update comes with confirmed issues. However, these are issues that are already known and have been on previous preview builds too. As this is a pre-Anniversary Update release, you will need to be a member of the Xbox One Preview group. To get the new update head to All Settings > System > Console Info & Updates.
