Microsoft Releases New Firmware for Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book

Microsoft has released new drivers and firmware updates for the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book. The update brings a major bump-up over existing Surface features and is available for download.

A post on ´s Surface subreddit page confirms that new firmware updates are rolling out to the 4 and the . The updates address driver issues and improve the Surface Pen Settings, Surface Button, and Surface Touch.

Once the update is installed, users should find an uptick in touch recognition among pen and finger input and a better audio experience.

Rumors continue to swirl about the possible appearance of a refreshed Surface lineup, but Microsoft is also working hard to polish the experience on current Surface devices.

In last month's update, the company fixed touch screen and shutdown issues with improvements in system stability. They also fixed the “connected standby” feature on both the Surface Book and the .

While Microsoft has not detailed the Surface Update History page, Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 owners can grab the new firmware from the Update settings menu. To download go to Start>Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update>Check for Updates.

Users will need to reboot their devices to apply the downloaded update and complete the installation process.
