Microsoft Sneakily Edits Xbox Play Anywhere Description to Inlude Less Titles

A few small words added to the Xbox Play Anywhere description could significantly limit the amount of titles that will be available in the future.

Xbox Play Anywhere is one of the main features PC gamers have been excited about in the Windows Anniversary Update, and it seems has quietly but significantly reduced its scope.

Previously reading “Every new title published from Microsoft Studios will support ,” every future game was promised, but the addition of five extra words “shown at E3 this year” gives them the freedom to pick and choose what they will include going forward.

This is in line with 's philosophy, who stated in an interview with PC Gamer, that he was “committed to bringing [Microsoft´s] biggest franchises to Windows and Xbox.

“I always hesitate to say ‘all,' because I think that inhibits creatively what could happen,” Spencer added. It's possible that Microsoft is just covering all bases here in case of future issues, but with the release only a couple of months away, it's certainly not promising.

Which Games Will Be Missing?

Some gamers have voiced concern that Halo Wars 2 will be missing from the final version, but it's worth remembering that Microsoft has previously said:

“Beginning with the launch of ReCore this fall and continuing with Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4, Halo Wars 2 and others, when you digitally purchase a game that supports Xbox Play Anywhere, you have access to the game on both and PCs for one price…”

Only time will tell which titles Microsoft will choose to leave out of the scheme, but in the meantime, you can keep up with all the latest Xbox Play Anywhere news here on our site.
