OnePlus 3 Update Delayed Due to Unspecified Issues

The important update set to fix display calibration and RAM issues has been halted due to "some reports of issues while upgrading."

The OnePlus team received considerable praise upon the announcement of their OnePlus 3, but that reputation has since been sullied by a series of issues with their Oxygen OS upon release to reviewers and early adopters.

The phone's 5.5″ Optic AMOLED display was criticized for its decision to target the NTSC color gamut, which resulted in images being far more saturated than they should be. Previously, the team recommended users switch to a custom ROM but later announced that an sRGB mode was in the works.

The phone also seemed to be underutilizing the devices 6GB of RAM, removing inactive applications from its memory and resulting in longer load times and a sub-par experience.

Other improvements of the update are better GPS performance, enhanced audio playback quality, and better camera quality and gallery. Some notification bugs should be fixed as

Users who managed to upgrade have not reported any issues with the update itself, but it's possible that the issues are specific to select devices or regions.

How To Update Anyway

For people who know their way around technology and are happy to throw caution into the wind in return for possible improvements, the OnePlus 3 can still be upgraded manually.

“Before we start:-
This method is only for the OnePlus 3.
Follow the steps correctly otherwise you may brick your device. I am not responsible for any damage to your device, please ensure that your device is at least 60% charged to prevent the accidental shutdown in-between the update process.

For Stock Non Rooted Users with Stock Recovery 

1. Download the appropriate OTA from above links and place it to Folder under Platform Tools on your PC

2. Now turn off your phone and boot in recovery mode. Press and Hold Volume Down + Power button to boot in recovery mode.

3. From recovery mode, ADB sideload the zip

  • Select Install from USB/ADB Sideload and Connect the phone to the PC
  • On your PC, open a command window. Press Shift + Right click and open command window in the Android Folder

In the command window execute the following code:

  • ADB Devices : to check if the device is recognized and ADB Drivers are correctly installed.
  • Once the device code is displayed, run the sideload command:
  • ADB Sideload (then the name of the zip).zip
  • Wait until the sideload is complete

4. After flash is successful go back to the main menu and wipe cache and reboot the phone.

The Device will reboot and your OnePlus 3 is now running on the latest OxygenOS 3.2.0 firmware.

PS: The first boot may take some time so keep calm and wait for it to boot.”
