Compatibility concerns were raised among others by BioWare Founder Greg Zeschuk, who called ´s goodbye to locked system specs even “a gigantic pain in the ass”, as game developers would lose clarity what they are really working with in terms of specs. Answering to Gamespot, Xbox Head of Operations Dave McCarthy has now reinforced that Microsoft´s next-gen console would indeed provide a seamless experience for developers.

“Obviously, listening to their feedback on influenced our approach on and has influenced our approach to Project Scorpio overall . . . So we really do intend it to be a seamless experience going across that ecosystem of devices, including as much as possible. We're learning and improving in that space on a regular basis.”

McCarthy assures that users can play their Xbox One games on Project Scorpio and possibly even on their personal computer through Windows 10´s Play Anywhere feature. He asserts that Microsoft aims to enable developers to cater to all types of gamers.

Despite Project Scorpio's promised backward compatibility feature, developers shall still be allowed to create games that will run exclusively on Scorpio. According to McCarthy,
“[Developers] will always want to write to specific capabilities and devices . . .Giving our developers some choice in what they choose to leverage as they do that is key to our whole philosophy moving forward. They've responded well to it as we've shared the plans with them.”

Although Microsoft has yet to indicate what the new Xbox version entails for developers, some of the gaming companies that are excited over the new Xbox project are Bethesda Game Studios (Skyrim and Fallout 4), EA Studios (FIFA World Cup), and Square Enix (Final Fantasy).

Microsoft is indeed disrupting the by removing the need for upgrades among its Xbox consoles. These will surely be exciting times for both the gamers and developers.
