Minecraft Battle Mini Game now Available on Consoles

Microsoft has confirmed the launch of the Minecraft Battel Mini Game as a free update on Xbox, PlayStation, and Wii consoles.

-

We wrote earlier this month that the Minecraft Battle Mini Game was due to launch on consoles as a free update on June 21, as announced by . A quick check of the calendar shows that today is June 21 and Microsoft and Minecraft developer Mojang have lived up to their promised and rolled out the mini game.

The title arrives on consoles as a free update and is truly a cross-platform release. Indeed, Minecraft Battle Mini Game has landed on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, PS Vita and Wii U today. As it is a free update it is definitely worth getting the mini game. You can check out the trailer in the video below the game description:

It's a last-minecrafter-standing deathmatch in which players tussle over resources and weapons in perilous arenas, fending off would-be assassins and their own hunger pangs. We've designed it specifically for consoles in mind – it's super-accessible and fast-paced, made to support couch-based competition just as easily as online matchmaking. There's no need to craft anything here, and you can loot inventories and equip armour with the tap of a button. Fall beneath your opponent's blade (or enchanted fishing rod) and you respawn as a spectating bat, fluttering in the face of your nemesis.

As we mentioned last month, Minecraft Battle Mini Game is already available to PC users as Battle closely mirrors a popular fan-made Hunger Games desktop mode. Three maps are available in the game immediately, with more to be made available at a cost of $2.99 in the near future.

Battle allows up to eight players to enter an online world where they will need to access chests loaded with gear to compete against each other over three maps. The contents of the chest vary but players need to get the goodies quick as they do offer an advantage. Luckily the chests fill up again eventually, but it definitely pays to be one of the first to open them.
