Leak: Skype UWP Version 11.6.72 for Windows 10 Mobile Shows up Online

A newer build of the recently leaked Skype UWP app for Windows 10 Mobile has been posted on the XDA Forums. The new version 11.6.72 brings a design overhaul and is much more stable than the previous builds.

Jeremy Sinclair, a poster on XDA Forums has leaked the newer version 11.6.72 of the app preview build for . The new version brings a design upgrade, adding a stylish dark mode. Its logo has a nice slide-in animation and performance is much better than the previously leaked builds.

In April, released a preview of the Skype UWP app for Insiders running Build 14316. The app offers a revamped experience with features such as group video calling with an optimized view of all participants, but there's still no word about an official launch date.

If you are running the latest Windows 10 Mobile Redstone build, you might want to test this latest build from XDA Forums. On our test device, a Lumia 1520 it apparently installed but then failed to open. Others have more luck and so might you.

But, it is important to note that this is an internal app leak, and there are still few oddities with how some UI elements look. We expect these to be fixed when the final version arrives.

To install this app on a Windows 10 Redstone build, follow the steps given below:

  • Open the Settings app, go to Update & Security > For Developers and enable Developer Mode
  • Download the .appxbundle for the app
  • Copy the. appxbundle to your phone
  • After that, browse to the file using the File Explorer on your phone.
  • Click on the file to install it

As an alternative, you can also upload the package from the Device Portal, which is easier because you get to see the entire progress of the upload and install.
