Microsoft Rolls out Windows 10 Preview Build 14366 with Office Online Extension for Edge

The latest round of Anniversary Update preparation, Build 14366, has arrived, while Windows 10 Mobile Insiders are receiving Build 14364 on the Fast Ring.

We are on the last straight to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update and is finalizing the feature set for the major build upgrade next month. That's good news for members of the Windows Insider Program on the Fast Ring as they are now seeing new preview builds land with regularity.

Just a week after preview Build 14361 rolled off the factory floor, Microsoft has now sent out Preview Build 14366 for PC and Build 14364 for the platform. The update was announced by Dona Sakar in a blog post, with the new head of the Windows Insider Program (she replaced Gabe Aul last month) also announcing the June Bug Bash.

As we are winding down to the Anniversary Update and there was a preview released last week, Build 14366 for PC and Build 14364 for mobile are not packed with features.

The team is now laser focused on getting ready to ship the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to customers this summer,” said Sakar in the post. “This means you won't see significant new features in builds for a little while. But these builds will include a bunch of really good and important fixes and general performance improvements.

Maybe not packed with features, but Build 14361 does introduce a pretty significant functionality through an Office Online extension for the Edge Browser. The extensions makes it is possible to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Sway Online without needing Office installed. With this tool users can edit, view, and create files in Office directly from Edge.

Microsoft also announced an update to the Windows Store with the latest Windows 10 preview build. Nothing substantial has been done, but the company says it has solved crash problems and performance should be smoother in general.

As usual, the company has issued numerous fixes for PC and mobile, and also confirmed some known issues within current preview builds. You can check out the full changelog by hitting up the source at the bottom of the article.

June is also hosting another of Microsoft's Bug Bash periods, giving Insiders the chance to collaborate with the company and help the Windows team find and solve problems within the platform. Over the next 4 days, the Insider team will be sending Quests to the Feedback Hub for users focused on one aspect of Windows each day.
