dropped the news that will be coming to the Xbox One in the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) push this summer. The company has some other Cortana related news to kick off the week, with the virtual assistant/voice recognition system now available to phone users who wear the .

The fitness tracker launched two years ago and has been updated with the Microsoft Band 2 since then, but Cortana has remained an exclusive feature for Windows Phone users. Of course, like most other , the Band needs a smartphone to sync to for full functionality, so Windows Phone users had a nice feature that rival platforms lacked.

In its continuing embracing of other platforms, Microsoft has now allowed Cortana to be set free on Android devices synced with the Band. For the integration to be effective you will need the Microsoft Health application and Cortana for Android. It is worth noting that this is exclusive to the United States at the moment.

Cortana for the Microsoft Band can be downloaded right now through the Google Play Store by getting Cortana for Android and the Microsoft Health app.
