Microsoft Launches Outlook Watch Face for Android Wear

The company has announced that Outlook can be placed front and center on Android Wear devices with a watch face that brings email interactions and scheduling features.

-

has bolstered its services on the Wear platform with the launch of an Outlook watch face for wearables running Google's OS. The release comes after the company already rolled out Outlook for the Apple Watch back in August.

Outlook will show an overview of what's coming up in the next 12 hours, overlaid on the dial of your watch. Colors on the dial match the colors of the calendars you've added to Outlook on your Android phone. Details of your next event are front and center, showing you how much time is left until your next meeting and where you have to be. You also have information on how many new emails you have received since you last looked at your phone.

The watch face allows users to perform scheduling tasks and see alerts and details on their plans. Of course, the main part of the Outlook service is emails and the face lets users interact with their emails by tapping on the icon on the screen. Once open users are able to archive, schedule, flag and delete mails accordingly.

Microsoft says it is aware that a part of the wearable equation is that it looks good, so the company has added personalization facilities on the Outlook watch face for Android. This customization only goes as far as several color choices but is probably enough for you to make the face your own.

Back in April Microsoft first rolled out Android Wear support for Outlook through the normal Android app, allowing users to see their notifications on their smartwatch. The new watch face is the next step and fully integrates Outlook into the Android Wear platform.
