Microsoft Opens Registration Page for Minecraft Education Edition

A new web page is the first step to Minecraft Education Edition going live, a new version of the hit game that will focus on enhancing the classroom experience.

As the name MinecraftEdu suggests, this version of the game provide educational tools that can be used in the classroom and beyond. Microsoft promised that it would overhaul the package into something more potent called Minecraft Education Edition that would arrive as a free trial “this summer”.

The service promises to offer a more robust set of features and is aiming to engage students and educators through collaboration tools and new functionality. Edition seems to be close to going live as a registration page for companies to sign up for the trial has been opened.

It is worth noting that the registration site is not yet actionable, the form it hosts can be filled in however and bookmarked for when it does go live.

Minecraft Education Edition is a service that will rely on a community Microsoft has said, so the company needs plenty of interest from companies and educational organization. The service is aiming to show educators that Minecraft can be a potent tool in the classroom and will offer help in showing how to use the game in lesson planning.
