Coship has revealed that its high-end Moly PcPhone W6 will be launching in July in Asia, coming with Microsoft’s Continuum feature.
High-end devices on the Windows 10 Mobile platform, so any new additions should be embraced, even if they will be unnoticed by the majority of consumers. The Moly PcPhone W6 from Coship was announced last month and is one of a handful of upper range devices rocking Microsoft’s struggling platform.
Coship has now said that the W6 will be available to consumers in July, coming to China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan. The launch countries are expected considering the company is a Chinese brand, but the W6 will also arrive in other regions later in the year. Finally, Microsoft will have a high-end presence in the Southeast Asia market, and a device from a regional company at that.
The handset is rare in the Windows sphere because it boasts a truly premium look and feel, again something only a select few Windows devices can claim. Indeed, the Moly PcPhone W6 looks more like a high-end Android smartphone than it does a Windows device, with its svelte design and metal chassis.
It seems as though Coship understands the importance of Microsoft’s Continuum feature, hence the PC in the PcPhone in the name. Continuum allows users to turn their Windows 10 Mobile devices into fully functioning computers; it is the standout feature of the platform.
Continuum is not the only thing the Moly PcPhone W6 relies on; it is also packed with plenty of high-end hardware. The handset sports a 6.0-inch LCD screen with Full HD 1080p resolution, an octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chip coupled with 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of native storage. Those who store plenty of media will be happy to see microSD support up to 200GB.
Other specs include a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and autofocus, a 5MP front-facing shooter, Dual SIM support, and a sizable 3900mAh battery.
Coship said at the launch of the device that it would cost around $399, but now the company is asking customers to name their price in a move that is hard to decipher as a marketing trick or a genuine thing.
