Microsoft Updates Office Apps on iOS with Egnyte and Learnium Integration

-

In a new update, Microsoft has added more functionality to its iOS Office applications with integration with Egnyte and Learnium.

Microsoft has issued another update for its Office suite of applications on iOS, bringing some new features to Word, PowerPoint, and Excel on Apple’s mobile platform. The upgrade is nothing huge in the case of any of the apps, but significantly they add integration of Egnyte and Learnium.

Egnyte is a service oriented to enterprises, allowing them to share files on any mobile device, using the cloud, on premises, or hybrid solutions. Learnium is a dedicated social network created for teachers, educational organizations, and students to share documents and plans.

The update launched today for Office apps on iOS means users can now use these services within Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This means accessing files from those two services that can then be edited and shared, while the ability to store files on Egnyte and Learnium is also possible.

There is not much else included from Microsoft (nothing at all in the cases of Word and Excel), although PowerPoint now lets users play videos with closed captions within a slide, while the app can also play multiple audio tracks within a slide.

Microsoft recently updated its OneNote application on iOS to allow users to edit Office documents directly in a note. If you are an iOS user running the latest 9.7-inch iPad Pro, you can take advantage of Office apps with editing for free.

At its Build conference in March, Microsoft said that Office is currently thriving in the mobile space (including iOS, Android, and Windows Phone) and has been downloaded 340 million times on iOS and Android alone.
