Microsoft’s Mojang teams with Nintendo for Super Mario Mash-Up Pack for Minecraft

-

The newly announced Super Mario Mash-Up Pack for Minecraft will be a Mario themed update for the popular game on Nintendo's Wii U console.

and Nintendo have not collaborated much in the past, and the two companies are of course rivals in the home console market with the Xbox One and Wii U. However, Microsoft's Mojang (developer of Minecraft) is working with Nintendo on a new “Super Mario Mash-Up Pack” for Minecraft, which will be available for the Wii U.

At the moment it seems as though the pack is an exclusive for Nintendo's console and that is unlikely to change considering this is Mario and the Japanese company doesn't exactly share its icon with other platforms.

The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack will add 40 Mario themed skins, while the game as a whole will be given an enhancement to look better. To show us exactly what to expect, Nintendo has released a video (above) that that highlights the new Super Mario pack for Minecraft.

The Wii U version of Minecraft features the full game, as well as many of the most popular previously released content packs for no extra charge. Downloading the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack gives players 40 new Super Mario-themed skins, which transform the game's characters into familiar heroes like Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach, and even troublemakers like Bowser, Wario and all seven of Bowser's minions. All the world and item textures in the game will also be redone, providing players the opportunity to create their own Super Mario-themed locations within the world of Minecraft. While building, players will even enjoy listening to the smooth sounds of 15 pieces of music from Super Mario 64. Builders of all ages will love crafting massive new worlds using building blocks inspired by a series as accessible and recognizable as Super Mario.

Interested? If so you will have to wait a little longer as the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack is not going to be launched until May 18, but the good news is it will be free.
