Is Craig Wright the Founder of Bitcoin?

-

Australian born Craig Wright has come forward to several publications and revealed himself to be the founder of , while showing proof to back up his claims.

The creator of crypto currency Bitcoin has been revealed, with Australian entrepreneur Craig Wright publicly announcing himself as the founder.

Bitcoin is a digital currency that has gone through fluctuations in value but is widely seen as model for future commerce, and Craig Wright is the man behind it all.

The BBC reports that financial documentation and confirmation from prominent names in the Bitcoin community have proved that Wright is indeed the founder of the currency.

Speculation has been rife regarding the founder of Bitcoin since the currency became popular, but until today the true identity of its creator has never been revealed.

Mr. Wright revealed his identity to the BBC, Economist, and GQ, although only the BBC is stating without doubt that he is the Bitcoin founder. His admission ends speculation that Satoshi Nakamoto created the currency, a rumor that started in 2014, and Mr. Wright even sent proof.

The first ever Bitcoin transactions that were sent to Hal Finney were displayed, with Mr. Finney going on to turn the idea of a crypto currency into the Bitcoin protocol. Essentially Wright is Nakamoto and he said he will be able to provide documentation to prove it.

These are the blocks used to send 10 bitcoins to Hal Finney in January [2009] as the first bitcoin transaction,” Wright sad. “I was the main part of it, but other people helped me.”

Several members of the Bitcoin Foundation have come forward and said they believe Mr. Wright is indeed the founder of the currency. Gavin Andresen, chief scientist at the Bitcoin Foundation, published a blog confirming Wright's claim.

I believe Craig Steven Wright is the person who invented Bitcoin,” he wrote.

Other publications are being more cautious than the BBC, such as the Economist, which argues that Mr. Wright needs to prove more and that questions still need to be answered. The Australian says he is not looking for any financial reward for creating the currency.
