The latest preview release of Office 2016 to Windows Insiders includes easier collaboration between Word and PowerPoint and AutoCAD support.
Microsoft today updated Office 2016 for those on the Inside, pushing out build 16.0.686.2048 for the Windows desktop version of the productivity suite.
At the moment the update is solely for Windows Insiders, but as always it gives a glimpse of what Microsoft has planned for future end user updates.
This is the April 2016 update of Office 2016 and brings with it a few new features for Office Insiders to get to grips with.
Collaboration made easy in Word and PowerPoint:
Working with others couldn’t be any easier. You can now not only share and work on files with others as well as add comments, but also chat with them, review previous versions of the document you’re working on and restore one of them if needed.
AutoCAD support In Visio:
You can now import AutoCAD 2010 and AutoCAD 2013 files in Visio as well as add shapes, elements and configurations to make facilities and space management a breeze.
Microsoft has added several new features to Office 2016 this year, including the release of Insider Preview build 16.0.6568.2016 in February. That particular upgrade sported features such as ink annotation in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, the ability to make contacts easier to find in Outlook, and new functions in Excel.
Just last month, Microsoft added the ability for Office 2016 to fight macro-level malware, a necessary upgrade considering 98% of all attacks on the software are macro.
To get the latest update, you need to be part of the Windows Insider Program and then head to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
