A new update to the PlayStation 4 and PS4 app will allow Remote Play functionality on the last two Windows builds.
Microsoft suggested last month that it would be open to opening the online gaming world to allow PS4 users to play Xbox One users online.
Sony added it was also open and has been playing nice with other platforms for some time. While cross online play is not here yet, those running the Windows platform can now play PlayStation 4 titles.
PS4 Remote Play is coming to Windows and Apple’s Mac OS X tomorrow (April 7) through an update rolling out to the PlayStation 4 console.
Build 3.50 MUSASHI is the latest PS4 update and Sony is also rolling out version 3.50 of the PlayStation app, while will bring numerous new features to the service.
Remote Play for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 is arguably the biggest new features, giving Sony a bit of a head start over Microsoft. Ironically, Redmond’s own Xbox One games ca only stream to Windows 10, but Sony has made its remote play service available to Windows 8.1 too.
The feature allows users to play their PS4 games on another device, such as a Windows PC or tablet, using the company’s streaming service:
“You’ll be able to select from the following resolution and frame rate options, depending on your Internet bandwidth.
Resolution options: 360p, 540p, 720p (Default: 540p)
Frame rate: Standard (30fps), High (60fps) (Default: Standard)
You can use one DualShock 4 as the controller for Remote Play, which needs to be connected to your PC / Mac via a USB cable.

Along with PS4’s 3.50 system software update, PlayStation App version 3.50 is out tomorrow as well. The main new features of this update are as follows:

Sony has been dominating the 8th generation console market, selling nearly twice as many PS4 units compared to Xbox One sales. Microsoft has been combatting a poor launch period for its hardware with some major announcements recently, including the opening of the Universal Windows Platform.
The company announced that the Windows Store will be coming to the Xbox One in the Anniversary Update for Windows 10.
