Microsoft Demoes HoloLens Actiongram App for Holographic Storytelling

-

The Actiongram app which will be released in summer will enable non-technical people to create holographic stories.

Actiongram, built by a 5-member team in roughly 6 months, is a new holographic storytelling app that is designed to allow people with no 3D skills and visual effects experience to create holographic content.

Using Actiongram, people will be able to use different actors, characters, objects and creatures from 's holographic studio to develop unique holographic stories to present their thoughts and delight people. On its blog, Microsoft has shared details about how Actiongram works.

“Actiongram is an app that allows people to place this rich holographic content into their real world environment, and record a mixed reality capture (MRC) video. Creators are able to develop their own unique holographic stories, in their world, to express their thoughts, ideas, and delight people. Actiongram allows people to create videos with holograms and advanced visual effects that would normally require expensive software and years of experience to do.”

Actiongram makes it really easy for non-technical people to place rich holographic content into their real world environment and record a mixed reality capture (MRC) video.

HoloLens is arguably the most advanced virtual/augmented reality device so far, and from the numerous demos Microsoft has offered it appears that the device has huge potential. But as powerful and as the hardware might be, HoloLens is onlny going to become a success if developers really jump on the train.

The Development Edition begins shipping on March 30, while device owners can expect the Actiongram app in the Windows Store beginning this summer. Here are some demo-videos shared by Microsoft to illustrate what´s possible with Actiongram.

Developers who will get delivery of first HoloLens units at the end of the month will be able to start crafting own 3D creations with Microsoft HoloSudio, which is already available on the Windows Store.
