The latest Windows 10 Mobile smartphone is a huge phablet from Mouse Computer, a 6-inch juggernaut with Continuum support.
Japanese company Mouse Computer has become the latest to create a smartphone for the Windows 10 Mobile platform with the launch of the MADOSMA Q601.
That’s hardly a sexy name, but the MADOSMA Q601 arrives as a solid and enticing addition to the ever-growing band of devices rocking Microsoft mobile platform.
Indeed, Windows 10 Mobile is developing nicely and there is now some excellent choices at the high end, with the Mouse Computer device slotting neatly below the likes of the Microsoft Lumia 950/950XL and the excellent HP Elite X3, which was also launched this week.
What the MADOSMA Q601 does is give the platform a true mid-range offering to compete with the copious similar handsets on the Android platform.
Its dizzying array of solid specs include a frankly massive 6-inch screen that comes with Full HD 1080p resolution, and a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 CPU. Elsewhere there is 3GB of RAM, 32GB of native storage, micro SD support for expansion, a sizeable 3900mAh battery, a 13 megapixel primary camera, and an 8 megapixel front facing selfie lens.
As mentioned, a decent package indeed. The addition of Microsoft’s Continuum feature is welcome, meaning the MADOSMA Q601 can be turned into a portable and fully fledged PC. We will repeat this ad nauseam, but Microsoft should really be making more of Continuum than it is … it is the one feature that sets Windows 10 apart from Android and iOS.
The one drawback to the Mouse Computer MADOSMA Q601 is that it is a Japanese device, which means it is unlikely to ever be sold beyond its native land. Regardless, no price or release date has been offered yet, but after MWC we expect the company to reveal the finer details.
