Alcatel Continues Windows 10 Ambitions with 2-in-1 Plus 10 Tablet

-

The company has already said it will launch multiple products in 2016, including , but the Plus 10 is the Alcatel's first ever .

Alcatel has raised the curtain on its first ever Windows 10 based 2-in-1 slate, launching the Plus 10 at the Mobile World Conference (MWC) in Barcelona.

You may be familiar with the design of the new slate as the Plus 10 is exactly the same as the Pop 10 that landed a couple of years back.

However, the Pop 10 was an Android powered tablet, whereas Alcatel's latest is based on the Windows 10 platform, aesthetic being the only shared trait between the two models.

Huawei launched the high end MateBook at MWC today, but Alcatel's effort seems more in keeping with the company's reputation for solid, but affordable, devices and not a competitor to the Surface Pro 4.

The release date or price of the Plus 10 have not been announced, but the tablet is expected to make its debut in the summer and be priced modestly. The price will undoubtedly be enticing considering Alcatel's MO, and for the money we will be getting a solidly spec'd 2-in-1 tablet with full Windows 10 functionality.

Under the hood there is a quad core Intel Atom Z8350 clocked at 1.97GHz, coupled with 2GB of RAM, and boasting 32GB of native storage space. Alcatel knows that Windows 10 users may need more space, so storage expansion through micro SD support is available, although it is limited to 64GB.

It is nice to see LTE connectivity here too, allowing users to get the most out of the Plus 10 on the move, although the radio is cooked into the keyboard accessory, so you will have to haul that too. Speaking of the provided keyboard, it also comes with an extra battery for a combined 8,410mAh that should be good for 8 to 10 hours according to Alcatel.

The keyboard is something of a multitasker, and so is the Plus 10 as a whole. It is a real PC in fact, complete with USB ports, microHDMI ports, and of course the full Windows 10 experience. It is also worth remembering that you can just carry it around and use it as a good old fashioned table too.
