At a Microsoft event in London, CEO Nadella has announced the opening of UK based datacenters for Microsoft´s Azure business cloud and other online products. The datacenters are aimed to serve customers whose data must stay within the country’s borders for the sake of privacy or legal reasons.
After cloud services reached India with the opening of three datacenters, Microsoft has set its eyes on making its cloud service global. New datacenter facilities have emerged in Ireland and the Netherlands, which serve as cloud computing hubs for customers all over Europe.
Microsoft CEO also confirmed that from the late 2016 they will begin offering commercial cloud services form UK-based datacentres starting with Microsoft Azure and Office 365 and shortly followed by Dynamics CRM online.
At the Microsoft Future Decoded event in London, Nadella stated,“It marks a huge milestone and commitment on our part to make sure we build the most hyper scale cloud that operates around the world.”
Nadella also said,“We do this so we can deliver on these bold ambitions, so we can empower you as individual developers or users of services within enterprises, to deliver you more of the technology that you need.”
Plans on releasing Azure Stack
Furthermore, Microsoft is planning to release Azure Stack, which is a cloud operating system that will simplify the process of swapping data and applications between the public and private cloud. Azure stack combines Windows Server 2016, Azure Pack, and Azure Service Fabric.
Nadella said,“That true hybrid computing is going to be important for any organization.”
According to Nadella, Microsoft is also planning on achieving two key goals. These goals include the reinvention of productivity and business processes through software such as Power BI, Delve and PC/phone hybrids such as the Lumia 950XL.
Last, on Microsoft’s future plans, is to also redefine personal computing via Windows on non-traditional devices such as the Raspberry Pi and augmented reality headset HoloLens.
