NVIDIA today announced that Microsoft’s cloud based platform Azure will offer NVIDIA Quadro-grade professional graphics applications and accelerated computing capabilities in its new N-Series virtual machine offering.
Azure is the first cloud computing platform to offer the latest version of NVIDIA GRID with virtualized graphics for enterprise customers. It will deploy accelerated computing in the cloud and will also provide supercomputing-class performance with top-tier Tesla K80 GPU accelerators.
The flagship GPU accelerators from NVIDIA Tesla Accelerated Computing Platform feature high performance computing applications, and are mainly known for their computationally demanding data center, power-efficiency, and deep learning applications.
Jason Zander, the Corporate Vice President at Microsoft Azure said “As a leader in advanced visualization, NVIDIA GPUs were a clear choice for our new N-Series compute family.” He added, “NVIDIA and Microsoft have a long history of enabling industry-wide innovation and we look forward to working with them to bring this revolutionary cloud experience to our customers.”
Collaboration with Microsoft
On the other side, the Co-Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, Jen-Hsun Huang said, “Our vision is to deliver accelerated graphics and high performance computing to any connected device, regardless of location,” He further added, “We are excited to collaborate with Microsoft Azure to give engineers, designers, content creators, researchers and other professionals the ability to visualize complex, data-intensive designs accurately from anywhere.”
With advanced Tesla K80 GPU accelerators, Microsoft Azure is expanding access to high-performance computing, and is enabling enterprises to accelerate their demanding workload with minimal investment in designing and maintaining computer resources.
