Azure Express Route: Businesses Can Now Use Office 365 Via Private Network Connections

-

Azure Express Route is now available for Office 365. Microsoft has partnered with several network operators to enable dedicated network connections for predictable data performance and data privacy.

Announced in February, Azure Express Route added the benefits of public cloud services, combining network reliability with privacy features.

The service is directed towards organizations who require managed connectivity on a premium level. Azure Express Route enables them to reach different geographic locations, while multiple circuits offer extra redundancy and geo-resiliency.

With the general availability of Express Route for Office 365, Microsoft now promises predictable performance, improved SLAs, control over data privacy and a premium network connection that isn’t shared with the public internet.

Azure Express Route for Office 365 includes:

  • Exchange Online and Exchange Online Protection
  • SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Office 365 Video, and Delve
  • Skype for Business Online
  • Office Online
  • Azure Active Directory and Azure Active Directory synchronization

Each ExpressRoute circuit automatically delivers two active physical connections. The networking elements are backed by connection uptime SLA of 99,9%.

Azure Express Route for Office 365 can count on the partnering network operators British Telecom, Equinix, Tata Communications, TeleCity Group and Verizon. Once you sign up, Office 365 will be added to your Wide Area Network (WAN). An active Azure subscription will be needed for the application.
