Azure Cloud Services Come To India, Amazon And Google Still On Sidelines

-

The company announced they will be the first major cloud solution company to enter India in Azurecon, Microsoft´s virtual conference about its business cloud platform Microsoft Azure.

Microsoft have been taking cloud solutions seriously in the last couple of years. Its business cloud platform product Azure is served through 21 regions worldwide. Today, three new Indian data centers are being opened.

The data centers are in Pune (Central India), Chennai (South India) and Mumbai (West India). A blog post by Microsoft´s Jason Zander states that these new data centers will be running Office 365 next month and Dynamics CRM Online in the first half of next year.

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, emphasized two advantages of Azure during the virtual conference:

  • Azure can be integrated with legacy Windows Server operating systems, making it easier for customers to move their existing apps and data.
  • Thanks to new regions opened in India, Azure now has a wider global reach compared to its rivals.

Microsoft pushing hard to beat competition
According to the numbers revealed during the conference, Microsoft’s cloud computing product Azure has more than 10,000 customers every week and more than 60 percent of the customers are using higher level services.

Microsoft is leveling up Azure with a $15 billion to rival market leaders Amazon and Google, with Amazon Web Services on top, hitting $7 billion of expected revenue next year.

Amazon Web Services plans to enter India in 2016, while Google continues to stay outside for the moment.

On Azurecon, Microsoft also showcased new solutions like spanning containers, security, infrastructure and the Internet of Things in the conference.
