Microsoft Defender for Business Preview Finally Ready for Wide Launch

The preview for Microsoft Defender for Business will be available to Microsoft 365 Business Premium users in February and March.

-

Back in November, Microsoft introduced us to a new enterprise-grade endpoint security solution known as Microsoft Defender for Business. At the time, the company said the new tool would come to preview soon. That preview did arrive in December, but only to a select number of customers. Now, Microsoft is ready to roll out the new security solution to all users.

The company says it will start delivering Microsoft Defender for Business in late February. It will be available to Microsoft 365 customers on the Business Premium plan on Windows 11. While the new service will be available to all subscribers, it is worth noting it will still be the preview of the solution.

This will also be a staged release, so not all customers will have the app in February. Although, Microsoft says the rollout will be complete by the end of March.

Customers can purchase Defender for Business as a standalone product, at a cost of $3 each month per use. Microsoft has observed a 300% rise in ransomware attacks during the last year, with over 50% targeting small organizations.

“Defender for Business elevates security from traditional antivirus to next-generation protection, endpoint detection and response, threat and vulnerability management, and more. It offers simplified configuration and management with intelligent, automated investigation and remediation. Defender for Business helps you to protect against cybersecurity threats including malware and ransomware across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android devices,” Microsoft said last year.

Abilities

Microsoft Defender for Business adds extra security tools to protect against threats while also placing vulnerability management in the control of businesses. This is possible through antivirus features, attack reduction tools, and remediation settings.

Microsoft also says Defender for Business does all the heavy lifting, so organizations do not need learn how to use the tool. Other features include endpoint detection, automation, manual responses, and detection.
